Robert Schoosleitner is a Salzburg, Austria based drummer, pushing the elements of sound, groove, emotion and technique. He is a founding member as drummer, composer and producer of the group Noyoco - Indie pop with a portion of future, originating from the 80s and back to the future. In 2019 they released their first three singles followed by their debut album Nothing to Lose to leave a first big exclamation mark in the music scene. Within the band he is also experimenting and developing an expertise for hybrid drumming and setups with pads, triggers and other electronics.
Robert is also a full time member of the fusion group Mashed Peas, a 9-piece band including a horn section and two keyboard players featuring some of the most talented musicians in Austria. In 2019 they released their debut album Slightly Different which was celebrated at Vienna's famous Porgy & Bess, Salzburg's JazzIt and Munich's Unterfahrt. Melodic and rhythmic motives paired with funky horns, heavy synths, fusion guitars and Robert's tasteful drumming unfold a unique melting pot of sounds.
Alongside his band work he owns Cherry Farm Studio, a nice little self-made basement studio with some fine gear and maintains a busy online as well as private teaching schedule in Salzburg.
Robert's dynamic and elegant playing combined with his versatility in different styles, both live and in the studio, was influenced and shaped by his intensive studies at the world famous Drummers Collective in New York. He holds a Drummers Collective diploma and has studied with greats like Ian Froman, Kim Plainfield, Peter Retzlaff, Jason Gianni, Mark Guiliana, Nathanael Townsley or Chris Coleman, just to name a few.
In his recent years he was touring with Israeli singer Sharron Levy, amongst other festivals opening up several times for German pop star Nena as well as hitting the road all over Europe and the US with Austrian's alternative stoner rock band Been Obscene, including the release of two full length studio albums and a limited live unplugged album on Elektrohasch Records. As a sideman Robert recorded U24 from Salzburg based acoustic jazz quartet the RASP.
Robert's teenage years where heavily influenced by his transition from classical percussion to the modern drum set. Back then he studied with Franz Trattner and Florian Mueller and achieved first prizes at Germany's Drummers' Delight and two at Austrian's Prima la Musica. He was also developing his improvising skills with pianist Joe Farkasch and heavily playing with Joe's Werkschulheim Big Band.
Born in Salzburg Robert got his first classical percussion lessons with the age of 6 from Martin Grubinger sen. A great foundation was set and he made is first experiences on stage. Later on he was part of the Schlagwerkquartett Mondsee which included Martin Grubinger jun., Manuel Kendler and Rafael Kotschy. Together they were highly successful and won several prizes national as well as international.
